CLIFF DREAMERS the novels, by JACQUI WOOD In late October the people who had read the book (see reviews and products page) wanted to help get me a publishing deal. They loved the book so much they just couldn’t understand why a publisher was not jumping at the chance to print it! So they donated gold and diamonds and precious stones to have a brilliant craftsman I know make a golden goddess figurine. This was to be the prize in a Quest to get national publicity and so encourage publishes to offer me a deal. When the golden goddess was made it was valued at £10,000! So I made a real quest for people to win this amazing prize. As an archaeologist I could not have a treasure hunt like the one for the Golden Hare in the 1980’s, as half the countryside was dug up by metal detectors to find it. A local hotel The Queen’s in Penzance offered me a room for people to sign in for the quest on Friday 27th October. But we only got local media interest, so there were not more that 50 people that signed in for the Quest which was by the way free! Anyway, they were given their first clue when they signed in and a Legend Clue Book I had written to download from this site to help them. They also needed local maps, as some of the clues were map based. On the first day the quest was to the east of the county of Cornwall and the second days clues took them to the west. When they arrived at the clue site they were met by two cloaked Quest Masters and were given their next clue and so on. Below is what happened and a picture of the Golden Goddess itself. You can also see the clues and answers on the clues page too. Even though the quest was not successful in getting national media interest and a publishing deal for me it was successful in that it was an amazing adventure for all those that took part in it and the winners are I know going to become good friends and it somehow seems very right that they won it. If I do get a deal for this book and publish the next in the story ( which is already written and set in the Mediterranean) we will have another Quest to promote it which I am sure will be an adventure for a lot more people than the ones that took part in this one. The winners all want to be quest masters in the next quest too. Jacqui

The quest was won by a Valliant group of women who teamed together in horrendous weather to be the owners of the Golden Goddess. The first quest day had probably the worst weather that Cornwall could throw at us. Thick wet mist and a biting wind. It was so bad that the two quest masters that went to the top of a hill on Bodmin moor nearly got lost themselves! So by the end of the day there were just five groups of 18 people that made it to the beach fire on Porthtowan beach by 6 pm. The last group to arrive ended up being our winners, they were just into the quest for the journey not for the gold and yet they eventually won it! The end of the quest was on Trencrom hill and I was there with two quest masters to greet the winners. One group went there first realizing they had missed a clue out. One group got the time wrong to start the quest and were too late because of that. The runners up a young professional couple were slowed down by a group of cyclists blocking the road to the quest hill. They ended up going cross country up the hill and just missed winning the goddess by ten minutes. The winners arrived at the top of he hill and were absolutely amazed that they were the first and the winners.
Here is a picture of our winners:
On the hill Joe, Sally, Sarah and Lisa. To the right of the picture. The girl in front and her mother were second runners up. The girl on the top is Zelpa who was one of the quest masters too.
Addi (Film), Daphne (Project Manger), Me, Jane (E-card Designer), Kif (Maker of Golden Goddess)
We went to St Michael’s Mount to present the prize and it was a very jolly occasion with lots of friends and families there the enjoy the nibbles and drinks and see the goddess for the first time. On the clue page is all the clues they had to find and their answers.
